Grimsby DIA offering Christmas activities for all
GRIMSBY — The Christmas spirit is taking over downtown Grimsby.
As the calendar gets ready to turn into the final month of the year and the holiday season kicks into high gear, the Grimsby Downtown Improvement Area is planning a few events to spread some holiday cheer.
Things start Dec. 2 with a Girls Night Out event. Many of the merchants will have downtown sales, and shoppers can get their receipts stamped and receive a half-price appetizer at the Judge and Jester of Forty Public House. While mom is shopping, the rest of the family can head over to the Grimsby Public Library, which will be providing a showing of holiday classic Home Alone. It begins at 6:45 p.m.
On Dec. 10 Coronation Park is the place to be for Christmas lovers as Santa will be taking some time out of his busy schedule to pose for some outdoor photos, courtesy Village Studio. Visitors can pick up their free five by seven photo on Dec. 13 at the Main Street shop.
The event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Coronation Park, and also features free cookies and warm mulled apple cider. Both the library and Grimsby Public Art Gallery will be on hand, with the library holding a story time at 11 a.m. and the art gallery providing a craft.
The following weekend the DIA will be holding Magic on Main Street, also from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be more warm mulled cider and festive cookies, as well as Christmas carolers who will be singing up and down Main Street.
Grimsby’s Santa Claus Parade will also be taking place downtown on Dec. 3, beginning at 5:15 p.m. at the Peach King Centre and winding its way through the downtown.
